Composite filamentary materials on titanium base

Description
Data are reviewed on the system with titanium or its alloys matrix reinforced by fibres of boron, silicon, carbide, borsic, alumina; by wires of beryllium, molibdenum, tungsten and their alloys; and by whiskers. Preparation of these composites is discussed. Mechanical properties of the materials are compared and their basic advantages and drawbacks are indicated. Compatibility of the matrix materials with the reinforcing fibres during the preparation process and under working conditions is estimated. Prospects of fibrous titanium composites creation are shown
