Description
Experimental lifetimes of highly charged iron ions have been measured using the beam-foil technique at tandem accelerator HI-13 at China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). The ionization states of the 30 MeV Fe ions through a carbon foil were from VIII to X VIII. We studied an Fe X VI line at 124.696 Anstrom which has been assigned to the transition 2p6 (1S) 4p-2p6 (1S) 5d (2 P degree 3/2-2D3/2), and the lifetime result is 79 ± 4 ps. We also discussed the experimental errors subsequently. (authors)
