Results of the EC research project REQUEST on software quality and reliability

Description
GRS work in software safety was mainly concerned with the qualitative assessment of software reliability and quality. As a supplement to these activities the work within the REQUEST project emphasized the quantitative determination of the respective parameters. The three-level quality model COQUAMO serves for the computation - and partly for the prediction - of quality factors during the software life cycle. PERFIDE controls the application of software reliability models during the test phase and in early operational life. Specific attention was paid to the assessment of fault-tolerant diverse software systems. (orig.)

Die GRS beschaeftigte sich bisher auf dem Gebiet der Softwaresicherheit im wesentlichen mit der qualitativen Bewertung von Softwarezuverlaessigkeit und -qualitaet. Als Ergaenzung zu diesen Arbeiten stand im REQUEST-Projekt die Quantifizierung der entsprechenden Kenngroessen im Vordergrund. Das dreistufige Qualitaetsmodell COQUAMO erlaubt die Berechnung - und teilweise die Praediktion - von Qualitaetsfaktoren entlang des Software-Lebenszyklus, waehrend PERFIDE den Einsatz von Zuverlaessigkeitsmodellen in der Testphase und im Probebetrieb steuert. Besonderes Augenmerk wurde den Moeglichkeiten zur Bewertung fehlertoleranter diversitaerer Softwaresysteme geschenkt. (orig.)Additional details
