Nuclear reaction study for long-lived fission products in high-level radioactive waste. Cross section measurements for proton- and deuteron-induced spallation reactions

Description

Study on spallation reactions for the long-lived fission products 107Pd, 137Cs, and 90Sr has been performed at the RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory. Isotopic production cross sections on both proton and deuteron were obtained at around 100 and 200 MeV/u using the inverse kinematics technique. Both the target and energy dependence of cross sections have been investigated systematically. In the 107Pd results, it was found that the deuteron-induced cross sections at 118 MeV/u are close to those for proton at 196 MeV/u for the light-mass products. The experimental data are compared with the PHITS calculations including both the intra-nuclear cascade and evaporation processes. (author)
