The search for nucleon decay at IMB

Creators

  • 1. Park Univ. of Michigan

Description

The author reports on the search for nucleon instability based on observations of an 8 Kton water Cherenkov detector (3.3 Kton in the fiducial volume) by the IMB collatoration. From a 204 live day exposure, 169 events are observed originating inside the fiducial volume. These events are discussed in terms of either atmospheric neutrino interactions or nucleon decay candidates. Partial lifetime limits for the nucleon decay into various modes are presented
