Transfer of EuSe and EuTe in the iodine atmosphere

Description
Thermodynamic analysis of the Eu-Se-I and Eu-Te-I systems is presented and the conditions under which possible are EuSe and EuTe transfer and crystal growth of these compounds up to 1470 K using as I2 carrier, are determined. It is shown that in the 1170-1430 K range in the Eu-Se-I and Eu-Te-I systems a complicated heterogeneous equilibrium exists and no intensive transport occurs. The possibility of simultaneous transfer from cold and hot zones in the field of intermediate temperature permits to prepare EuSe and EuTe monocrystals of size up to 2 mm with growth rate of 20 mg/h
