Alpha particle diagnostics
- 1. Essex Univ., Colchester (UK)
Description
The paper concerns the alpha particles produced during the D-T phase in JET fusion reactions, and the velocity distribution function fα(V,t) of these particles in the plasma. Alpha particle dynamics in plasmas are discussed, along with the evolution of the alpha particle distribution function, alpha-particle driven instabilities, and a summary of methods proposed for alpha particle diagnostics. A new technique is proposed for determining the spectrum of small-angle, Thomson-scattered 10.6μm radiation. Finally, Thomson scattering of gyrotron radiation is considered. (U.K.)
