Purification process of a mixture by obtention of 2 distinct phases and preferential extraction of impurities

Description

A process for purification of sodium containing traces of Cs, Li or K is described. Cs 137 can be removed from LMFBR reactors up to 1 μg of Cs in 1g of Na or less. The process can be applied when at a given temperature is present a two-phase domain comprising a phase containing a almost pure and a phase A+B enriched in B in respect to the original mixture. Impurities B are extracted by a solvant. Sodium impurities are extracted by a mixture of butixyethanol and ligroin at 930C

Abstract (French)

On decrit un procede de purification du sodium contenant des traces de Cs, Li ou K qui peut etre utilise dans les reacteurs rapides pour eliminer le Cs 137 jusqu'a ce qu'il ne reste que 1 μg de Cs par g de Na au moins. Ce procede est applicable quand a une temperature donnee il existe un domaine a 2 phases comprenant une phase contenant A presque pur et une phase enrichie en impuretes B. Ces impuretes sont extraites par solvant. Les impuretes du sodium sont extraites par un melange ligroine butoxyethanol a 930C
