Synthesis of uranium dioxides by complex sol-gel processes (CSGP)

Description

A growing request for efficient and pure, not polluting, energy is a reason for intensive research in a field of nuclear energy, especially introducing some more economic steps and new technologies of preparation nuclear fuels. In INCT a new method - the synthesis of uranium dioxide by a variant of the original sol-gel method - Complex Sol-Gel Process (CSGP) has been elaborated. Through this method, we can fabricate the uranium dioxide in the form of irregularly shaped or spherical particles (diameter 5-400 μm). This process was successfully applied for synthesis of other advantageous ceramics. (author)
