Deregulation at the FERC: Proving the case for market-based rates

Creators

Description

This article examines the natural gas pricing policies of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as evidenced in recent rate decisions and how those policies affect the move toward more competition in the natural gas industry. The author feels that promoting competition through relaxed regulation is counter productive and that just and reasonable rates can only be achieved by adhering to a cost standard until such time as a truly competitive market is achieved
