Calculation of the electrical resistivity of liquid rare earths
Description
The electrical resistivity of liquid Gd is calculated in a single-site scattering approach including the (sf)-exchange interaction. Using exchange functions published for solid Gd it is found - from a phase-shift calculation, as well as in Born approximation - that the effective contribution of magnetic scattering should not exceed the value of about 12 μΩ cm. This is much less than the usual estimate for solid Gd at room temperature and agrees well with experiment. (author)
