State diagram of Lu-Tl system

Description
Using methods of DTA, X-ray phase analysis and metallography a phase equilibria diagram of Lu-Tl binary system is plotted. Existence of Lu5Tl3 and LuTl3 intermetallic cmpounds is substantiated. The earlier unknown LuTl and LuTl5 compounds are found. Lu5Tl3 compound melts congruently at 1720±15 K, the rost decmpose by peritectic reactions: LuTl at 1330±10 K, Lu3Tl5 at 935±5 K, LuTl3 at 910±5K. Two eutectic reactions are detected in a system. At 1425±10K and 13±1 at.% Tl eutectoid transformation takes place. Thallium limiting solubility in α- and β-Lu constituted 17±1 at.% at 1440 K and 6±1 at.% at 1425 K respectively
