Description
Lanthanide and actinide atoms are known to generate complex spectra because of special electron configuration. As tunable lasers became available variety of laser spectroscopic techniques emerged to study atomic and molecular spectra. Multi-photon Resonance Ionisation Spectroscopy has been one of the attractive techniques because of its sensitivity and state specificity. In BARC we have developed this technique and employed it for generating large volume of useful atomic spectroscopic data. We have demonstrated utility of multi-colour Laser Induced Fluorescence as a complimentary technique to Resonance Ionisation Spectroscopy, despite its relative less sensitivity. Some of the example cases of both these studies along with recent results are presented here. (author)
