Secondary chemistry after replacing the steam generators - first experiences
Description
The removal of copper alloys made possible a change from AVT-chemistry used to higher pH than 9.3 after SG-replacing from July 1993. Because of the great volume of works and variations the change was done gentle and step by step. There were not any serious problems. A pH at condensate between 9.5 and 9.6 seems to be optimal in view of decreasing the ingress of corrosion products, a significant improvement of feedwater quality, which is also caused by the excellent tightness of SG and condensers, and of the consumption of hydrazine.
