Description
This article analyzed the physical-mechanical performance of cementitious mortars containing additions of granulated ash from biomass Amazonian charcoal waste. As supplementary binder, contents of 0%, 5% and 10% by weight of the main binder (Portland cement) were replaced. Aspects of durability and mechanical performance were observed and compared between composites. For this, raw materials were selected - byproducts from the timber industry, river sand (Φ 2.36 mm), granulated ash (CG) from coal (Φ 75 μ m) and CP II - F 40 cement. Cylindrical specimens 50x100 mm were produced with mortar from the mixtures. Thermogravimetric analysis (TG / DTG) on CG was carried out. The cementitious composite in a hardened state was analyzed in terms of void volume, total and capillary water absorption, loss of mass at 950 °C, diametrical tensile strength and axial compressive strength. The results showed a decrease in the mechanical performance of the composites with an addition of 5% CG. The composite with 10% CG showed the best overall performance, however, it indicated a trend to decrease the durability, from advanced ages. (author)
