Nuclear power plant with equipment for coolant cleaning

Description

The cover gas argon which is located above the free surface of the sodium coolant, contains aerosols with Na, Cs 134 and Cs 137. In order to clean the cover gas and therefore the coolant, the cover gas with the aerosols is blown by a blower towards a vapour trap, which is provided with sintered metal bodies, where the liquid sodium is separated out. Subsequently the separated sodium is taken to a distillation device, where the Caesium is distilled off. The purified sodium then returns to the coolant circuit. (DG)

Abstract (German)

Das Schutzgas Argon, welches ueber den freien Oberflaechen des Kuehlmittels Na steht, enthaelt Aerosole mit Na, Cs 134 und Cs 137. Zur Reinigung des Schutzgases und somit des Kuehlmittels wird mit Hilfe eines Geblaeses das Schutzgas mit den Aerosolen einer Dampffalle zugeleitet, welche mit Sintermetallkoerpern bestueckt ist, an denen sich das fluessige Na abscheidet. Anschliessend wird das abgeschiedene Na einer Destilliervorrichtung zugefuehrt, in der das Cs abdestilliert. Das gereinigte Na kommt wieder in den Kuehlmittelkreislauf zurueck. (DG)
