TAPS - a two arm photon spectrometer for the detection of neutral mesons and single photons
Description
A photon-spectrometer for the detection of neutral mesons and single photons has been built. It will be used at several facilities to study heavy ion (GSI and GANIL) and photon induced (MAMI B) reactions. The spectrometer consists at present of 4 blocks with 64 BaF2-scintillation detectors each. The blocks are arranged in two movable towers to provide a flexible geometry. The spectrometer has been recently used for a first experiment (350 MeV/u 20Ne on 27Al) at GSI. Preliminary results from this run will be presented. (author)
