Serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary: Unusual visualisation of calcified intraperitoneal metastases via CT and bone scintigraphy
Description
In a 45-year old patient with serous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary CT showed small calcifications in metastases along peritoneal surfaces. These 'psammoma bodies' indicated abdominal implants, which in other respects would not have been demonstrable via CT scans because of their small size. During bone scintigraphy the calcifications caused unusual extraskeletal focal uptake of 99mTc-MDP in the abdomen. (orig.)

Bei einer 45jaehrigen Patientin mit nervoesen Zystadenokarzinom des Ovars liessen sich im CT Verkalkungen in peritonealen Metastasen, die sogenannten Psammomkoerper, durch ihre hohe Strahlendichte nachweisen und markierten so auch sonst wegen ihrer geringen Groesse nicht differenzierbare abdominelle Absiedelungen. Im Knochenszintigramm bildeten die Kalzifikationen offensichtlich das Substrat ungewoehnlicher extraskelettaler Weichteilspeicherherde im Abdomen. (orig.)Additional details
