Mass transfer processes in heterogeneous systems under the action of ionizing radiation
Creators
Description
Consideration is given to radiation-induced processes of substance transformation from solid phase to liquid one when dissolving preliminarily irradiated samples and under the action of ionizing radiation. Effect of processes of crystal charging, radiation defect accumulation, atom displacement, surface structural changes, and liquid phase radiolysis on the kinetics of salt dissolution is discussed. It is shown that ionizing radiation action is manifested only in the kinetic region of dissolution; various factors often produce an opposite effect on process rate at that. Radiation-induced effects, observed during crystallization are briefly considered as well
