Description

Cooperative research programs on late somatic effects of radiation in small laboratory animals as carried out by a group of radiobiological and biomedical institutes (the European Late Effects Project Group, EULEP) require standardization of various experimental methods such as dosimetry and exposure arrangements. Late effect studies caused by the irradiation of specific organs, e.g. lung and liver, are included in the EULEP research program. For these studies collimated X-ray beams have to be employed, since it is necessary to restrict the dose to other essential organs in the animal. The authors describe an intercomparison of the X-ray dose and dose distribution for partial body irradiation. (Auth.)
