Radiolytic oxidation of Al2+ intermediate
Description
Deaerated aqueous solutions of Al3+ ions were irradiated with cobalt-60 γ-rays. The effects of pH and of added aliphatic alcohols as radical scavengers on the radiolytic yield of hydrogen and of carbonyl products are reported. The results suggest that hydrogen atoms and aliphatic radicals oxidize Al2+ intermadiate. (author)
