Limiter heat loads in TFTR due to disruptions
Description
A fast infrared thermometer was constructed to measure the temperature of the TFTR Bumper Limiter during disruptions with 10μsec time resolution. The results indicate peak surface temperatures of 1800C at 10MJ of NB heating. The rise time of the temperature is as short as 20μsec. The heat flux is found to be up to 40kW/cm2. The energy deposition is up to 200J/cm2. Extrapolation to CIT is made
