Optical absorption and structural properties of V2O5 doped CdO-SrO-B2O3-SiO2 glasses

  • 1. Department of Physics, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur (India)

Description

The xV2O5-10CdO-(20-x)SrO-50B2O3-20SiO2 glasses were prepared by rapid melt quench technique. The amorphous nature of prepared glasses was ascertained from XRD diffraction pattern. Fourier - Transform infrared spectroscopy was done to find out the basic structural units in these glasses. Optical studies have been carried out on VO(II) doped borosilicate glasses to understand the distortion and substitution of these ions. Optical band gaps and Urbach energies were also evaluated. The density, refractive index and molar volume of these glasses were found to be depend up on V2O5 content
