Polarization of the unresolved-source microwave background
Description
The Stokes parameters Q, U for the background radiation of unresolved microwave sources can be represented by generalized spherical harmonics. Analysis of sample sources indicates that in observations at 8-mm wavelength with a 60 antenna beam the corresponding Stokes-parameter fluctuations should amount to roughly-equal0.3 μK. Polarimetry of this kind would have significant implications for cosmology
