Development of LMR sodium technology ('03)

Description

The heat transfer system of new concept, which Pb-Bi as Wood's metal is circulated forcedly, is studied. The experimental apparatus is installed. In order to investigate the later phase of a Sodium-Water Reaction (SWR) event in KALIMER, the code SELPSTA is developed and an experimental study is carried out for verification of the simple analysis model applied to the code. An experiment is carried out for the verification of computer code and analysis of thermal striping phenomenon due to thermal mixing in the outlet of fuel assemblies using an air as the working fluid. The mean temperature and temperature fluctuation were measured by a cold wire for 12 different inlet conditions of temperature and flow velocity (12x23 matrix). The acoustic leak signals in water mock-up facility having high frequency band beneficial to detect a small water leak into sodium is acquired, and the acoustic leak signals to be finished partly the S/W for finding the leak features is analysed. Validity of the new methods for differential pressure measurement and flow rate measurement is verified. The basic principles are confirmed for the bellows type DP(Differential Pressure) meter and the diaphragm type DP meter with strain gauges. The reliability and preciseness are also verified within the error range of the experimental setup. And new flow rate measurement method using group delay time of thermal fluctuations is investigated and the basic principles are confirmed. The theory of thermocouple errors caused by the combine heat transfer, which is developed by this study, is verified by experiment using air flows under various experimental conditions. The measured errors are in good agreement with the theory. Optimum conditions to minimize the measurement errors are obtained by plotting the theoretical results
