Radioactive aerosol content in atmospheric air and foodstuffs in Moscow in 1982 and 1983

  • 1. Institut Biofiziki, Moscow (USSR)

Description

The data on the fallout density and content of artifical radionuclides in the atmospheric air and certain foodstuffs over the period of 1982-1983 are presented. β- and γ-active aerosol fallout levels in Moscow have decreased by 3-5 times and their airborne concentrations by 7-9 times compared to 1981. 90Sr and 137Cs concentrations in milk, potatoes and vegetables harvested in 1982 and 1983 remained virtually unchanged compared to the previous year. Radiation dose equivalents resulted from 90Sr and 137Cs for the population due to ingestion have been calculated
