Proton electromagnetic form factor in the vector dominance model, modified at small distances

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

Predictions of the vector-dominance model, modified at small distances, are compared with the experimental data on the elastic ep scattering. The model discusses is based on invariant description of the particle structure in the new relativistic coordinate space, in which the role of a natural scale fulfils the Compton particle wave lenath. In terms of the relativistic configurational representation rho-, W-, J- and rho (1550)-mesons create the proton structure only on distances more than its Compton wave length. The model enables to evaluate the proton central part contribution, proceeding only from the geometric picture. The results of the comparison with experiment show that such method of accounting the small distance contribution results in considerable improvement of the quality of data description
