Description
The material sensitivity of mild steel and Armox 500T steel has been studied under varying stress-triaxility, strain rate and temperature. The effect of stress triaxiality was studied on notched cylindrical specimens of initial notch radii 0.2 - 10 mm. The strain rate sensitivity of the material was studied on smooth cylindrical specimens at strain rate 0.0006 -1500 s-1. The tests at elevated temperature were carried out on smooth cylindrical specimens in the range 100 - 900 °C. It was observed that both the steels possess significant strain rate and thermal sensitivity. The strength of both materials increased with increase in stress triaxiality as well as strain rate.
