Adsorption effect under fatigue, impact loading, friction, and wear of a steel in weak surface-active agents

Description
The adsorption effect has been investigated covering the fatigue, impact loading, friction and wear of steel in weak surface-active media (SAM) depending on the physical and mechanical condition of the surface layer metal samples. The ST40 and ST50 carbon steels, 30Kh and 40Kh chromium steels and 40KhN chromium-nickel steel samples have been studied in the hardened, low- and high-tempered conditions. Vaseline and lubricating oils (pure and oleinic-acid-activated) served as media. The samples surface layer physical and mechanical conditions were changed by the conventionnal as well as special treatment (whetting, friction hardening). The research data indicate that the adsorption effect mechanisms during the static, fatigue and impact loading as well as friction and wear of the steel in the weak SAM, have common features. Dual display of the adsorption effect in the weak SAM is explained
