The effect of thermochemical treatment in the potassium cyanate melt on medium-carbon steel properties
- 1. Moskovskoe Vysshee Tekhnicheskoe Uchilishche (USSR)
Description
The effect is considered of the low-temperature thermochemical treatment consisting in the surface saturation of steel with nitrogen and carbon (carbonitriding) upon the fatigue resistance of structural steels. It is shown that the surface strengthening results in a considerable increase in fatigue strength and proves to be an effective method for countering the adverse influence of surface decarburization
