Seismic damage analysis of concrete members

Description

Most existing structural seismic design methods are based on the limit design concepts to reflect maximum deformation attained, through the use of ductility factor. But according to the real structural seismic damage, the ductility factor is but one indicator of the complex structure nonlinear behavior, so it is limited in the information that it provides to designers. In this paper, one model of concrete damage under reversal cycle load is firstly described, which is based on two damage factors. This technique permits one to evaluate not only the damage based on ductility, but also the cumulative damage based on the repetitive cycle nature of the response. (author)
