Application of SYNROC to high-level US defense wastes

Description

The SYNROC (synthetic rock) concept intends to mimic those mineral assemblages/rocks in nature that contain radwaste-type elements and exhibit long-term stability. A program is currently underway at Lawrence Livermore laboratory to develop a SYNROC waste form for application to U.S. defense wastes. Some properties of SYNROC B, C, and D are discussed. 4 refs
