Description
The existing injection septum magnet have been in operation since April 2004 till now for injection of 450 MeV electron beam into Indus-1 storage ring. A new septum magnet has been designed and developed to upgrade the existing magnet for improved field uniformity in pole aperture towards the injection region with low stray field outside the septa so as to facilitate efficient injection of 450 MeV electron beam into Indus-1 storage ring. Also, the high voltage insulation between magnet core and excitation coil w.r.t magnet body has been improved to avoid the electrical shorts during Indus operation. The new septum magnet has the same physical dimensions of the existing magnet. This is needed to avoid any interference with other components of storage ring. The details of upgraded septum magnet design, its development and the magnetic measurement results will be discussed in this paper. (author)
