Study of heat transfer in the nucleate, transition, and inverted annular film boiling regions during reflooding

Description

A heat transfer model has been used to predict the wall temperatures in the nucleate boiling, transition boiling and the inverted annular film boiling regions during reflooding of a single tube. The predicted temperatures were compared with the experimental data that were obtained at atmospheric pressure. The inverted annular region existed in all the reflooding runs as long as the liquid temperature at the quench front remained below the saturation temperature. The flow regime above the quench front then changed to annular flow, that is, a thin film of liquid separated the wall from the vapor core
