Study on the first wall TiC coated materials for fusion reactor

  • 1. Nuclear Power Inst. of China, Chengdu, SC (China)

Description

The chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process of depositing TiC coated materials by the TiCl4-CH4-H2 system is introduced and the influence of coating conditions on coating microstructure, deposition rate and the influence of substrates (Mo, graphite and 316L SS) on coating growth are studied. The experimented relationship between coating thickness and process conditions is given. For TiC/graphite, TiC/Mo, TiC/316L SS, the failure mechanism of high power density electron beam thermal shock and thermal fatigue is discussed. The possibility of using them as the first wall of current operating Tokamak devices is analysed
