Description

Wave Digital Fitters (WDF) represents a class of digital filters, which have may attractive features, but it has a main difficulty of hardware implementation. In the present, many high-speed, large capacity programmable devices such as FPGA have been introduced, which made the implementation problem of such filters, in particular, considerably easier. In this paper, a brief survey has been carried out for the hardware implementation of WDF during the last few years. Then a hardware realization of both model-mask lattice wave digital filter (LTWDF) and conventional LTWDF, based on FPGA implementation, has been done. Two VLSI implementations of a third order conventional and model-mask wave digital are compared. The implementation results shows a significant performance improvement for model-mask LTWDF, in chip design area and sampling rate, in comparing with conventional LTWDF
