Feasibility study of LILW disposal facility construction at uranium mine site

Description

Challenges for the radioactive waste disposal from nuclear power plants are pointed out in this paper. Through the introduction of the actuality of LILW disposal in rock caverns at home and broad as well as some specific aspects in site selection, the distribution of the uranium mine site resources and nuclear power plants is analyzed. With the experience of disposal in rock caverns, feasibility of using the domestic uranium mine sites to dispose LILW is expounded. On the basis of study and research results, the key problem for rock cavern disposal of LILW and relative thematic researches needed to be studied are put forward. (authors)
