Interaction between some disinfectants and Tcsup(99m)-radiopharmaceuticals
- 1. Louvain Univ. (Belgium). Lab. of Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmacy
Description
Contamination of Tcsup(99m) sulphur colloid with small amounts of iodinated antiseptics has been described to result in the formation of free pertechnetate and excessive blood-pool activity upon injection. As far as we know similar or other interactions have not been reported for disinfectants that are effective by another mechanism than oxidizing activity. The present study has been set up to investigate the effect of small amounts of a wide variety of commonly available antiseptics on the radiochemical and biological behaviour of different Tcsup(99m) labelled radiopharmaceuticals.
