Correlation between specific radiosensitivity and hemoglobin sensitivity to sodium nitrite oxidation

  • 1. Institute of radiobiology, National academy of sciences of Belarus, Gomel' (Belarus)

Description

Radiosensitivity of organism, nitrite methaemoglobin formations are evolutionary caused by species distinctions. It was analyzed experimental values of kinetic parameters of nitrite methaemoglobin formation and literature data of half-lethal dose - LD50/30. Laboratory animals are sheep, goats, pigs, guinea pigs, rats, mice. The kinetic parameters of nitrite methaemoglobin formations reaction (in vitro) at different animal species correlate with literature data on specific radiosensitivity with coefficient 0,89. Nitrite methaemoglobin formation is able to be test in evaluation of radiosensitivity of organism. (Authors)
