The diaphragm
- 1. Hopital Saint-Eloi, 34 - Montpellier (France)
Description
CT permits the demonstration of normal diaphragmatic anatomy not visible on plain radiography of the chest. Having a knowledge of normal diaphragmatic anatomy, variants, attachments to the body wall and ligaments attaching to the diaphragm is important to be able to correctly interpret the body scans. CT permits to study diaphragmatic and peridiaphragmatic processes and notably to distinguish diaphragmatic and paradiaphragmatic tumors and pseudotumors, to localize peridiaphragmatic collections, to understand transdiaphragmatic routes and diaphragmatic hernia, and to recognize processes extending into retrocrural space and cardiophrenic angle
