Radiotherapy with post-operative intensity modulation for retroperitoneal sarcomas: acute toxicity profile

Description
The authors report the assessment of the acute toxicity of intensity-modulated conformational radiotherapy (IMRT) in the adjuvant post-operative treatment of peritoneal sarcomas. Patients have been operated and then irradiated with intensity modulation. Fourteen patients have been considered (seven for a primitive tumour, seven for relapses). Tumour types and sizes, previsional target volume (PTV), average prescribed dose are analysed. Acute toxicity is low. A longer follow-up is still required to assess the toxicity on the long term and the risk of a radio-induced cancer. Short communication
