Scintillation detectors

Description

In this article we first describe characteristics of scintillator materials which are of practical importance in these days in nuclear and high-energy physics, starting with inorganic materials, then organic scintillators and finally, very briefly, glass and noble gas scintillators. Details on the scintillation process itself will be given only to the extent necessary to understand features of individual materials or of different classes of scintillators. (orig.)
