Cyclic voltage switching effect on the structure of amorphous anodic WO3

Description
The nature of structural changes taking place in amorphous anodic WO3 films both during a coloring-bleaching cycle and with increasing the amount of voltage switching cycles, is determined. It is shown that at the bleaching stage in the electrolyte (38% H2SO4 solution) the process of oxide hydration proceeds. An increase of switching cycle amount promotes the nucleation of hydrate phases WO3H2O and WO32H2O; on so doing a quasi-amorphous three-phase system forms. The above structural changes in amorphous anodic tungsten oxide are irreversible

Установлен характер структурных изменений при электрохромном эффекте в аморфных анодных пленках WO3 как на различных этапах цикла окрашивание - обесцвечивание, так и при увеличении числа циклов переключения напряжения. Показано, что на стадии обесцвечивания в электролите (38% раствор H2SO4) происходит гидратация окисла. При увеличении числа циклов переключений зарождаются фазы гидратов WO3H2O и WO32H2O, и возникает квазиаморфная трехфазная система.
