Analysis of the competitiveness of energy-intensive companies: comparison between France and Germany

The electricity bill of electricity-intensive customers comprises several components: electric power supply, transport, distribution, commercialisation, and taxes. This report proposes a commented analysis of these different components in the case of French industries and of German industries, with a prospective dimension. In the French case, it addresses the assessment of the energy share level and of the routing share, and of the different taxes (CSPE, local taxes, CTA). As far as German industries are concerned, it addresses the assessment of the energy share level, of the transport share, and of taxes. Some additional aspects are then addressed, such as the consequences of a possible exemption of transport costs for some industries, the valorization of interruptibility, the compensation of CO₂ indirect costs, and self-production and other peculiarities
