Meeting new standards with the Studsvik incinerator

  • 1. Studsvik Nuclear, Kingston, TN (USA)
  • 2. Envikraft Faurholdt Engineering, Elsinor (Denmark)

Description

New regulations have made changes necessary at the 14-year old Studsvik low-level radioactive waste incinerator. A new dry type of acid gas scrubber has been chosen which operates by reacting flue gas with powdered limestone. In addition to the dry scrubber, an active charcoal filter has been included to trap dioxin. These modifications are described. (author)
