Incineration: vitrification of radioactive wastes and pyrolysis gases combustion in thermal plasma
Creators
Description
In order to evaluate the advantages of the use of thermal plasma in technological radioactive wastes incineration, the author studied the reactions in two types of plasma reactors. The pyrolysis gases post-combustion study is realized for an oxygen thermal plasma reactor. The combustion performance and the combustion kinetic are described. Another part is devoted to an incineration-combustion oxygen thermal plasma reactor transferred on a basalt bath. The treatment efficiency is presented concerning the wastes combustion and the homogeneity of the obtained glass. The glass elements volatility as tracers added to wastes (Ce, Cs, Sr, Co) is also discussed. The author implemented a method to control in real time and in-situ the metallic vapors concentrations on top of the bath for a plane symmetry plasma. (A.L.B.)
