Pulse gas-dynamic source of neutral atoms

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kharkov. Fiziko-Tekhnicheskij Inst.

Description

A pulsed gas-dynamic source of neutral atoms is described. The use of a gas delay line in it allowed separate evacuation of the scattered atoms in the nozzle-separator, separator-collimator, and collimator-measurement region gap to be avoided. This simplified the source scheme and its operation, reduced the cost, and likewise allowed the use of a single evacuation post having a productivity not exceeding 5 liters/sec. For a gas pressure of about 3 atm in the intravalve volume and a capacitor-bank energy of 225 J, no changes in the operating regime of the source were noted after 2500 shots. The density spread from pulse to pulse amounted to 25-50%
