On applicability of the intranuclear cascade modified method for calculation of intermediate and low energy nucleon reactions

  • 1. AN SSSR, Leningrad. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki

Description

The Hark-Miller-Bern kinetic equations accounting for the continuous spectrum are solved in order to describe nuclear reactions of the (N, xN) type, where N is a small- or medium-energy proton or neutron. The proton and neutron Fermi-gas model is considered in a finite-depth rectangular well with realistic boundary conditions for continuous spectrum states. The time formation of the inelastic scattering cross section is shown for a 56Fe nucleus interacting with 39 MeV protons, and the secondary proton energy spectrum is given The precise solution of the (N, xN) type nuclear reaction equation is compared with the approximate intranuclear cascade (IC) method within the framework ofone and the same model. The algorithm of the approximate solution of the kinetic equations in the IC method allows to calculate nucleon yield cross sections with a good accuracy for low-energy nucleons notwithstanding the roughness of the nuclear model adopted
