Qualification criteria for creep loaded dissimilar weldments

Description
Due to different operating temperatures the piping system of the water-steam-circuit of HTR-systems is composed of different materials. The steam generator is made of austenitic steel (X5 NiCrAlTi 31 20 rk) because of the higher temperatures of material, whereas the live steam pipes having operating temperatures of 535 C, are made of ferritic 12% chromium steel (X 20 CrMoV 12 1). For reasons of safety and production techniques, the transition zone is a dissimilar weldment at the outside of the containment. The required material data for the estimation of the service-life and safety of this dissimilar weld were established in a test program and the transferability from specimen to component was verified. Abstract (German)
Bedingt durch unterschiedliche Betriebstemperaturen ist das Rohrleitungssystem des Wasser-Dampf-Kreislaufes von HTR-Anlagen aus unterschiedlichen Werkstoffen aufgebaut. Der Dampferzeuger ist wegen der hoeheren Materialtemperaturen aus austenitschem Stahl (X5 NiCrAlTi 31 20 rk) gefertigt, waehrend die Frischdampfleitungen mit Betriebstemperaturen von 535 C aus ferritischem 12% Chromstahl (X 20 CrMoV 12 1) ausgelegt sind. Im Hinblick auf Sicherheit und aus fertigungstechnischen Gruenden ist die Uebergangszone als Mischnaht ausserhalb des Containments ausgefuehrt. Die erforderlichen Werksoffdaten und Methoden zur Beurteilung der Lebensdauer und Sicherheit dieser Mischverbindung wurden in einem Versuchsprogramm erarbeitet und die Uebertragbarkeit Probe-Bauteil verifiziert.
