The equatorial ionosphere
Description
Abstract At the magnetic equator the Earth's magnetic field is completely horizontal. This provides a constraint on the motion of the charged particles that comprise the ionosphere and produces distinctive behaviour in the equatorial ionosphere. This article briefly examines some of the unique aspects of the equatorial ionosphere in which active research is being undertaken.
